Successful composer in Spanish-speaking countries, leading figure of Spanish music during the 'Transition', discovered by film director Nicholas Ray, who urges her to acculturate musically in London, lived for 5 years in France, becoming an author and interpreter of essential ballads in Spanish, but remembered for her acclaimed performances in French too, in particular the classic Ne Me Quitte Pas by Jacques Brel. She sold 10 million records.
