American synth soul group, formed in 1986, Sacramento, CA by Jay King, after the demise of Timex Social Club. Their name means "new club". One of their first hits, "Jealousy" is an answer song to Timex Social Club's "Rumours. Other hits include their cover on Bill Withers' "Lean On Me" and "Why You Treat Me So Bad". They have released five albums between 1986 - 1995. Early members Foster & McElroy left after the debut album to become one of the most successful production and songwriting teams in the late 1980's soul - r'n'b scene.
