This skilled wind quartet's bluesy riffing and hymn-like ensemble passages will summon echoes of the World Saxophone Quartet for listeners familiar with that group. While they don't go as far outside as the WSQ, these Bayou dwellers do push things a bit, the results amounting to much more than just a recasting of New Orleans Jazz cliches in a saxophone quartet setting.
