When MTV's Total Request Live misinterpreted KJ-52's "Dear Slim" as a dis on the great Shady one, they inadvertently blasted open the doors for this burgeoning rap artist. KJ, aka Josh Sorrentino, took the opportunity to introduce himself as one of the best MC's in the biz ?รน a taller-than-usual order for a white kid from the Christian hip-hop scene. He attempted to defuse the confusion with "Dear Slim, Part 2," explaining the root of the rhyme, but, unexpectedly, that release took him further than just continuing a dialogue with his musical mentor. KJ turned heads with his chops. A kid from a broken home in the Tampa, Fla., ghetto, KJ, aka "Jonah Sorrentino," channeled his positive Christian experience into his music and has become an innovator in the craft and cultural history of the genre, venerating the art form.
