From the ashes of Fig Dish rise Caviar. Fig Dish's mojo embraced drolly rendered, smart-ass catchphrases paired with choice progressions from the spell book of Chicago's Power Pop legacy (Cheap Trick, Off Broadway, Shoes, Material Issue). Singer-songwriter Blake Smith (along with fellow FD alum, bassist Mike Willison) augments this formula for his latest band by including samples nicked from Beck's cutting-room floor and other inspired touches such as theremin lines and various touchstones from alternative rock's heyday. Caviar provide a taste of something more booty-shaking for those used to Guitar Rock's usual headnodding.
