From 1983-1988 the band was known by the name Desacrator [sic] and released a demo "111MZD" in 1988.
Initially a avant-garde thrash metal / progressive rock hybrid, Thought Industry began stripping down their sound by the time of 1996's [r=870244]; moving into alternative and art rock by the time they recorded their fourth album [r=870253] in 1997. They remained active as of 2001 but disbanded shortly after the release of the album [r=870283].
Vocalist, bass guitarist and chief songwriter Brent Oberlin was last involved with the band Cosmonaut as of 2002.
