TECHNOTRONIC Vinyl Records and CDs
| |
A studio project begun by a philosophy professor, this Belgium-based band paid as much attention to its image as its music, and was one of the first acts to mix hip-hop and house together for the masses. Technotronic enjoyed success in the early 1990s when hits such as "Pump up the Jam" and "Get Up! (Before the Night Is Over)" topped the charts stateside and in Europe. Their songs had undeniable pop appeal, boasted thumping bass, happy house beats, and raps from Ya Kid K and MC Eric. "Move This," a sweat-producing club workout that appeared on the band's debut as well as Ya Kid K's solo album, garnered Technotronic much radio attention after being licensed for a cosmetic commercial.
