One of the few Old School female emcees, NYC's the Real Roxanne began her career as one of the many ladies responding to UTFO's 1984 classic "Roxanne, Roxanne." She, along with Roxanne Shante, engaged in a dis war on wax, each proclaiming to be THE Roxanne. Her first album dropped in 1988, featuring production from Jam Master Jay among others. Now she returns on the MP3 tip, bringing out soulful singing and strong rhymes about the struggles of mothers in the ghetto, set to Marley Marl-flavored beats by ROBO.
