Bridging the gap between electronica and rock, Andre Barlow and Lousie Rhodes from Manchester, England formed the group in 1994. Rhodes' melancholy vocals has been compared to fellow UK downtempo artists Portishead and Massive Attack and indeed their sound is similar to these Trip-Hop icons. However their style is a more free, dark, and experimental with screeching guitar work and D'n'B teasing rhythms.
