French-born singer Cherie first hit with "I'm Ready," which was featured in the 2004 teen comedy Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. Her self-titled debut followed soon after. With the help of such high-powered producers as Mark Taylor and Corey Hart, himself a former pop star of the 1980s, the chanteuse carved out a spot for herself smack dab in the middle of Jessica Simpson adult contemporary/teen pop market territory. With a powerful singing voice, Cherie seems best suited to ballads ("Say You Love Me" is especially effective), but as "Betcha Never" and "Body, Soul and Heart" prove, the twenty-something singer is quite able to successfully rev up the tempos.
