But Lopez is much more than a media construct who's taken to mouthing R&B platitudes. Okay, her voice ain't all that, and the songs she sings fall well within radio norms, but Lopez's savvy movie choices and her refusal to be pigeon-holed as an artist inspires just a teensy-weensy amount of respect, even from her detractors. Face it, the highest paid Latina actress in Hollywood is now pumping out smoothly grooving R&B, and she does it exceptionally well.
