Kelly Rowland initially found success as one third of the Contemporary R&B act Destiny's Child, who put themselves on hiatus after a couple of multi-platinum albums to concentrate on solo releases and acting gigs. The second "Child" to offer a solo album (Michelle Williams was first with the Gospel album, Heart to Yours), Rowland hit big with "Dilemma," the chart-topping duet she performed with the popular Midwest rapper, Nelly. Rowland's album, Simply Deep, incorporated elements of hip-hop, classic R&B and even (gasp!) classic rock, successfully creating a signature sound for this emerging talent.
