Lawrence Tolbert and Rod Marcel became a team in late 1991 when they met through mutual friends in Atlanta. Originally from Gary, Indiana, Tolbert began his musical journey singing in church. Rob, a native of Miami FLorida, had been exposed to music at an early age; His father was a member of James Brown's Famous Flames.
