Johnny Lytle is the Soul Jazz vibes man. He is renown for getting funky, but his ballad work is as introspective as his up-tempo tracks are flamboyant. He has never changed his style and his roots-of-Acid Jazz sound hasn't aged a day. Lytle has done sideman service with such peers as Miles Davis, Ray Charles, and Bobby Timmons.
