Soul singer - producer who was Born 26 February 1938, Philadelphia, PA, United States Died 15 May 1996 at age 58. He first recorded on Savoy Records, as a member of The Dreams, releasing 3 singles including "Darlene" ('54), "I'm Losing My Mind" ('54) and "I'll Be Faithful" ('55). He also joined Steve Gibson & The Red Caps in 1959, recording for Rose Records & Hunt Records. In 1962, he took over from Steve Gibson, renamed the group The Modern Red Caps, recording for Smash ('62), Rowax ('64), Penntowne ('65), and Swan ('66). Their 1966 Swan version of old Flamingos' hit "Golden Teardrops" features the lead singing of George Grant (of The Castelles). As a soul artist, two of his Wand Recordings ("Ain't That Peculiar", "Wan-Tu-Wah-Zuree") were R&B Billboard hits during 1969-1970. His great-great grandfather was the legendary gospel composer, The Rev. Charles Albert Tindley.
