Avenged Sevenfold are a Huntington Beach, Calif., phenomenon. They apply soaring, punk-pop harmonies to raging power metal licks. Fans of Bad Religion and Iron Maiden may finally have something to agree on -- namely, that this is a questionable idea. Avenged put out two records on an indie label before releasing City of Evil on Warner Bros. in 2005.
