Liona Boyd's mastery of the guitar has made her one of the few modern classical crossover stars. Her sensitive touch drew praise from Christopher Parkening and, the master himself, Andreas Segovia. During the mid-'70s this lovely British-born blond quickly became a household name in her adopted home of Canada for her Spanish guitar recitals and albums. She then went on to international acclaim with the help of her numerous television appearances and her collaborations with popular guitarists Eric Clapton, Chet Atkins and David Gilmour. Boyd works really well in such company because she remains true to her artistic strengths and never tries to water down or "rock out." Today, both high-minded music critics and the public continue to embrace her work.
