Vanilla Fudge didn't care about songwriting. They wanted to take the songs everybody already knew and pound them into lysergic sludge. It may sound like a formula for bubblegum, but Vanilla Fudge were seriously heavy. Singer Mark Stein belted out tracks like "Ticket To Ride" with genuine soul, and the band sounded like they were constantly hitting as hard as they could.
