Recorded live on February 24th of this year at the Village Vanguard in New York, the record catches a simpatico unit behind Jarrett, featuring Dewey Redman on Coltranesque tenor and Danny Johnson on percussion, in addition to Haden and Motian.

Says Jarrett: "The music I'm writing now is like I can't imagine anyone else playing it. I'll say this, my ancestry is predominantly jazz and classical music. But I feel that whereas in the beginning I was part of my ancestry, now my ancestry is a part of me." He's right. (RS 148)
