Review The Constantines' first two records sounded like early Foo Fighters albums that never quite achieved liftoff. But on Tournament of Hearts, this Ontario five-piece (which now includes a keyboard player) ratchets up its brand of apocalyptic post-grunge. Lead singer Bryan Webb's confessional lyrics sometimes veer into paranoid territory: On "Love in Fear," he howls, "Don't take me to the hospital/Don't tie me to the wires!" On the shuffling ballad "Soon Enough," Webb calms down to croon, "Soon enough, work and love will make a man out of you"… Read More in a smoky tenor similar to Bruce Springsteen's with the poetic savvy to match.
