Japanese-American artist, whose music encompasses and fuses a wide variety of genres including jazz, dance, pop, and soul. She is arguably best known for being a pioneer of the acidjazz movement in Japan in the early 1990s, and has released over 12 albums. She lives in New York City with her husband and their son Nikita. Daughter of jazz artists Toshiko Akiyoshi through ex-marriage to Charlie Mariano. Wife of jazz trumpeter Alex Sipiagin.
