As a member of the respected Sensational Nightingales, Otis Clay honed his gospel training. Combining this later with the gritty production of Hi Records maestro, Willie Mitchell, Clay emerged with some of the most dedicated soul this side of Al Green. His profoundly moving raw vocals stayed true to the sound and spirit of the Muscle Shoals southern style. After his peak popularity in the mid ?æ70s, he continued recording, leaning towards his gospel roots and still performing inspired live shows.
