Puerto Rican teen powerhouse Menudo operated on the now-proven formula that if your members are younger than sixteen years of age and look like Scott Baio at his cutest, fleeting success in America in all but guaranteed. Occasionally given to doing English-language albums, Menudo became an American teen pop phenomenon on the strength of Reaching Out (1984). They also sparked a short-lived interest in tripe soup. While members of Menudo have cycled through the band well into the '90s, the band is probably most notable for spawning Latin Pop phenomenon Ricky Martin.
