Sea-Tac indie popsters drive their gentle, woozy songs with deadly accuracy. Guitarists Kevin Kelly and David Wentworth work gusty, phased-out atmospherics into a whirlwind, leaving just enough room for vocalists Kelly and Jessica Folsom to complete the equation with their shimmering, gracefully intertwined baritone and alto voices. Sounding both elegant and determined, it's not hard to imagine the Melody Unit as a hugely successful Indie Rock act. Instruments are note-perfect and work subtly, a refreshing and unique approach in contrast to the droves of Post-Grunge acts looking to reinvent the distortion pedal. Few bands self-edit this succinctly.
