Best known for penning the standard "You Are My Sunshine," Jimmie Davis was a contemporary of/brother in style to Jimmie Rodgers. He plays old-time country songs with a strong blues feel and the pre-requisite yodeling initiated by Rodgers. His earliest songs feature a striking, ribald sense of humor and clever usage of double-entendre. Two terms as Governor of Louisiana and almost eighty years later, Jimmie Davis still performs in public and even has a new record in the works.
