| American horror themed Heavy Metal band from Detroit, Michigan. Often stylized as "Halloween: Detroit's Heavy Metal Horror Show"
HALLOWEEN was formed in 1981 under the name BITCH (not to be confused with L.A.'s ), which included current vocalist Brian Thomas from a band called Alcatraz (not the Graham Bonnett/Malmsteen band), Rick Craig from the band , bassist Ed Reynolds, guitarist Mark Scott and future drummer Chuck Burns.
Reynolds did not play any shows with BITCH, for he was soon booted and replaced by George Neal. On Halloween night,1983, BITCH officially became HALLOWEEN when they played their final show at the Falcon Lounge (aka: The Falcon Rock Fortress) on the eastside of Detroit.
Drummer Chuck Burns soon left, and guitarist Mark Scott took over the drumming helm. He soon left as well, citing personal issues, and was replaced by Bill Whyte of Detroit-based heavy metal band NIGHTMARE, which featured Eddie Hillman of THE MEANIES and EREBUS (Erebus guitarist Tim Wright would eventually join and play on the "No One Gets Out!" album).
This new line-up of Thomas, Craig, Neal & Whyte went to on to record their debut album, "Don't Metal With Evil", at the Disc Ltd Studios in East Detroit in late '83. This line-up is often considered the classic HALLOWEEN line-up and existed until Halloween night 1988, when after a show at Harpo's concert theater in Detroit, Craig and Whyte left the band. |
