An impressively deep well of talent, Country Cooking began in the early '70s and was built around players who have since gone on to set the standard for Traditional and Progressive Bluegrass instrumental work. Banjoist Tony Trischka went on to form Skyline, while banjoist Pete Wernick became a founding member of Hot Rize; each of these Progressive Bluegrass acts were highly influential and popular on the festival circuit. Guitarist Russ Barenberg and fiddler Kenny Kosek have both carved out distinguished, successful careers as bandleaders, recording artists and sidemen.
