Led by the legendarily dead Euronymous, Mayhem were one of the original black metal bands in early '90s Norway. Chimera (2004) is only the second full-length put out by the band since the tragic murder of its founder; despite the decade that's passed, it successfully resurrects the purest traditions of early black metal with an unexpected and welcome intensity.
