Strong underground rap rises above ground (in SoCal) on the Rats' sophomore LP. Staunch spiritual focal points frame their lyric-flinging artistry, making for a weighty "poetry slam" spread out over mature musical arrangements and innovative production (a Dulcimer turntable, severe jazz tones and even authentic big band magic).
