After Parisian musette, early 20th century tango may have been the most romantic music of that century. Heavy with strings and dominated by Troilo's torrid bandoneon playing, these songs mirror the fervor of young love, tearing the guts out of themselves until some velvety-voiced singer smoothes the way. The title track, "Cantor De Mi Barrio" and "Mano Brava" are luscious.
