Mulligan was so famous for his "piano-less quartet" and his progressive big band sessions that much of his other creative endeavors get overlooked. Extra percussion gives the majority of these tracks a floating Latin bop vibe but what really sets this apart is the interplay between Gerry Mulligan's breezy baritone sax and Tommy Flanagan's elegant piano lines.
