Review

Two of Capitol's biggest stars get together on this vibrant release. One of Cole's best albums, Shearing and his Quintet sometimes get smothered in Ralph Carmichael's string charts, but it's a classy effort all the way around. The standout track may be the sagely languorous reading of "Pick Yourself Up" which Shearing had famously recorded at a brisk tempo.
