Review
There are plenty of "blue" blues records out there, but the bitter truth is that most of them aren't very good. Thankfully, the Champ illustrates that even those playing in the gutter can be looking at the stars. Dupree's barrelhouse piano and gin joint vocal style deal tales of drinking, drugs, murder, sex and octogenarian enjoyment of soul food.
