Biolay's breakthrough set counters his tranquil music -- mostly acoustic folk and country backed by baroque orchestrations -- with rough, sometimes violent lyrics. "Little Darlin," which combines a plaintive suicide note with a lively Carter Family sample is flat-out brilliant. So is the rest of the album, which guests his sister Coralie Clement and wife Chiara Mastroianni.
