A dedicated student of traditional Arabic music, Simon Shaheen has done much to open the ears and eyes of western audiences to the wide-ranging variances of this art form. In addition to performing for universities and workshops, Shaheen has recorded various film scores and improvisational recordings. His musical virtuosity with both the violin and oud, as well as his compositional talents, have even branched into jazz and classical in the music of his group, Quantara.
