Chilean crooner Alberto Plaza tried out three different paths at college -- economics, engineering and publicity -- before realizing that music was his true calling. It's a good thing he did since his 1985 single "Que Canta La Vida" became such a gigantic hit in Chile and Latin America that it was named "The Best Chilean Song Ever" in the year 2000. Pretty heady stuff, but Plaza has kept his cool, steadily releasing servings of tropically-influenced romantic songs.
