Review
Giant Sand boss Howe Gelb sighs his lyrics like Harry Dean Stanton on downers while he delivers scorching, venomous guitar over his cow-punk band's grooves. As you might expect from its title, Map is an uneven album - the lyrics for "Hood" are unusually awful - but it's a nice soundtrack for a lonesome drunken night.
