Boston-based folksinger Vance Gilbert is a favorite on the U.S. coffeehouse, club, and festival circuit. Blessed with a far ranging, almost otherworldly tenor voice, he's also an accomplished acoustic guitar player who incorporates elements of jazz, blues and country into his deft picking. Songs range from the personal to the political, and some seem informed by his former day job as a school teacher. He got his start on the folk scene in Cambridge, Mass., and has recorded duets with artists such as Christine Lavin and Patty Larkin.
