| Japanese composer, born March 19, 1963 in the Miyagi Prefecture.
With an extensive and eclectic catalogue spanning over thirty years, she is perhaps best known for her animation soundtracks (e.g. Cowboy Bebop, Macross Frontier), her 1996-2003 producer-mentorship of vocalist , and for her well-covered composition「花は咲く」(Hana wa Saku = Flowers Will Bloom)—produced to aid NHK's recovery efforts from the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami.
Kanno is also an in-demand jingle/CM (commercial music) writer, has written and arranged for several pop singers (e.g. , , ), and in 2019, she was commissioned to compose "Ray of Water" for the enthronement of 徳仁 (Emperor Naruhito).
