| | Yo Majesty is an American Hip Hop group from Tampa, Florida.
Their style is a hybrid of 80's style Electro Hip Hop, Bass Music, Southern Crunk, Baltimore Club Music and Ghetto House.
Rappers 'Shunda K' and 'Shon B' started out as a duo named 'Yeah Majesty' before they were joined in 2000 by gospel-raised vocalist 'Jwl B'.
After a hiatus during Shunda K's marriage, Yo! Majesty regrouped. Once they established a name for themselves on the underground club circuit, both in the US and the UK, the group self-released , the Yo EP, in 2006.
The group has toured with and Gossip and , featuring in the latter's 2006 parody video of the The Black Eye Peas' 'My Dumps' titled 'My Dumps'.
The group signed with Domino Records in 2007, and the label released an EP and full-length LP by the band in 2008, which included tracks produced by , and , among others.
A documentary based on the band 'Das Wassup' directed by Johannes Schaff, was released in 2017. |
