With a heavier emphasis on chord drones and repetition, Windsor for the Derby started recording in the mid-'90s for the appropriately-titled Trance Syndicate label. Alongside labelmates Bedhead and Labradford, Windsor for the Derby signaled a revival in minimalism that saw young musicians acknowledging the influence of composers like Steve Reich and John Cage. Lately, they've been adding vocals and electronics to their mix of precise drumming and fifteen-minute interwoven guitar drones. Since the demise of Trance Syndicate, they've recently been added to ex-Swan Michael Gira's label, Young God.
