WILL FYFFE Vinyl Records and CDs

Scottish music hall entertainer, comedian, film star, singer and songwriter. Appeared on stage, radio, television and in twenty-three films. Most notably composed the song 'I Belong To Glasgow' for which he would always be associated with despite hailing from Dundee. Fyffe found the inspiration for the song from a drunk he met at Glasgow Central Station, who he asked "Do you belong to Glasgow?" and the man replied: "At the moment, at the moment, Glasgow belongs to me." Fyffe was so popular that a variety theatre in Glasgow ran a 'Will Fyffe' competition. Dozens of hopefuls entered, to sing 'I belong to Glasgow'. Will, a great joker, entered for a bet, heavily disguised as himself, although he could only win second prize! Born: 16 February 1885 in Dundee, Scotland. Died: 14 December 1947 in St Andrews after falling from a window of his own hotel. Buried in his adopted home of Glasgow.
