Rev Theory (formerly known as ''Revelation Theory'') formed in 2002. Revelation Theory's initial members Rich Luzzi, Dave Agoglia, and Julien Jorgensen first met in 1997 at Merrimack College in North Andover, MA, and all moved to Long Island, NY in 2002 to pursue a career in music. A year later, bassist Matty McCloskey, who was a student at New York University joined the band.
In 2018, Luzzi and Agoglia left the band and McCloskey took over lead vocal duties.
