Paul Burch has played with Lambchop as well as with Vic Chesnutt on his album Salesman and Burnadette. Along with Paul Niehaus (Lampchop's steel player), Burch and the WPA Ball Club crank out some of the sweetest Honky-Tonk/Western Swing-tinged Alt Country since Rosie Flores. His songs carry a vision of pastoral living and loving in modern times. Niehaus gets his lapsteel to weep and meow as Burch croons in high, lonesome, Hank-like inflections. Perfect music for salting up a cold one with your own tears.
