He was born January 23, 1947 in Bogor, West-Java and died July 18, 2007 in Jakarta.
Since his father was a diplomat, he grew up in the USA and Europe where he studied music in Vienna. in 1971 he represented Austria at the . He moved back to Indonesia in 1978 where he released his first album which lyrics critized the Indonesian government and was banned later. He stayed a critic voice in Indonesia till his death in 2007.
