| | The Madcaps were an American harmonica duet who appeared with Frank Sinatra, Monica Lewis, Les Brown and His Band, The Mills Bros., and Bob Hope.
Members Carl Ford and Joe DiFulvio, received their early harmonica schooling from Borrah Minevitch's Harmonica Rascals. Carl was playing Radio City Music Hall with the Rascals when Joe dropped by backstage to say hello.
When the Rascals left to tour Europe, Joe and Carl decided to team up and subsequently formed the Madcaps. As the story goes, Joe is the mad portion because of his comical flair, while Carl plays it straight.
Using Hohner harmonicas exclusively, the boys were the first mouth-organ group to utilize the echo chamber and the first to make multiple recordings. |
