Not too many people know that Eric Heatherly once played in Shania Twain's band. You'd never guess this by listening to his music: whereas Twain's songs seem built for radio and the charts, Heatherly's work is grittier and rooted in rustic twang-rock. He grew up in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Creedence Clearwater Revival, Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison records. Those albums likely turned Heatherly on to some early Sun Studio material, because his more upbeat songs show traces of a swinging rockabilly influence.
