American actor who was nominated for an Oscar as the title character in The Buddy Holly Story (1978). Busey had an early uncredited role in the 1967 film, The Love-Ins as a hippie with a loudspeaker. He played Curly in the 1974 film, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot which starred Clint Eastwood (see ).
A passionate surfer, he starred alongside , and in Big Wednesday, a popular film which follows the lives of some California surfers from the early 1960s to the 1970s Some years later and in an interesting twist, he appeared in a 2004 conspiratorial documentary by a Californian surf music producer who was very prolific in the 1960s, . The documentary film was 911 : The Greatest Lie Ever Sold.
He had roles in some Fred Williamson (see ) films over the years. He played the part of Wilford Wexler in The Last Sharknado: It's About Time which was released in 2018
One of Busey's children, his son Jake is a successful actor.
