| UK Club circuit band from the North East of England for 40 years before they disbanded in 1994
Members were : Ray Banks, Peter Hills and Pete Round
Don Juan's; Ray Banks, Peter Hills, Peter Brown
The Don Juans were formed in Aug 1964. Ray Banks is the only original member. Peter Hills joined in 1967 and Peter Brown in late 1975. Unlucky for some, there have been thirteen members during this time, certainly not unlucky for Don Juan's. Added to this list are two part-time Frankenstein's - no further vacancies exist. (Send us your application on the back of a ten pound note and you'll never hear from us again !)
The turning point in the groups career was their visit to Zambia and Rhodesia, where they spent a total of ten weeks. They appeared on Television and radio, this included an hour long spectacular. Ray says, 'There isn't a real language barrier in any country, comedy is universal. We take off Presley, Probe, the Bee Gees and people in all areas know what we are doing. They don't necessarily have to understand the words. In the early days we used to do 99% straight music, 1% comedy. This is now completely reversed '. Ray is also responsible for writing the material.
Lovers of phonetic spelling may like to take note of the following variations on the name 'Don Juan's': Don Wand, Don Ones, Don John's, and even Don Jwaans ! Thanks to concert Chairmen everywhere !
