| The Cash Pussies were formed with the intention of providing music for and appearing in a never-completed film by Fred and Judy Vermorel, 'Millions Like Us', and, with their female vocals and pop-punk sound, they were labelled as 'punk meets Abba'. The line-up consisted of model Diana Rich on vocals, Alex Fergusson (ex-Alternative TV) on guitar, and Alan Gruner and Ray Weston, formerly bassist and drummer with Security Risk.
Fred and Judy Vermorel were long-time friends of Malcolm McLaren from his college days, and they were the executive producers of the Cash Pussies' Sex Pistols cash-in 45, '99% is Shit', which was produced by Dave Goodman and featured the voice of Sid Vicious, and was released in 1979 on 'The Label' records. |
